The haversack was an indispecable part of everyday life in the 18th and early 19th century. From the soldier to the longhunter to the common citizen, everyone carried a haversack for one reason or another. It carried all the things that were needed in everyday life. The soldier and the longhunter carried everything they owned in their haversacks. A workman could carry the tools of his trade in one. The farmer carried one when he when to town or carried his dinner into the fields. The gentelman carried one on a days hunting or on a short trip. The lady of the house would find one a great help on market day.
Haversacks came in all shapes and sizes, according to ones needs and what they could afford. I am proud to offer haversacks for everyone. All the haversacks are handsewn (unless otherwise noted) and made of all natural materials. They are made to withstand longterm use at reenactments, rendezvous or in the woods. All jute and wool haversacks are lined with cotton duck for added strenght and durabilty, and handsewn with linen cord.
Good for the woods. There is nothing to standout on this one. The brown on brown color will blend right into the deep woods. The outter shell is made of heavy woven jute lined with brown cotton duck. The brass buttons and double D buckle will dull with age. The 2 1/2" strap is wide enough to carry any load without cutting into your shoulder. The flap and strap edges are edged with buckskin for long wear. The strap ends are heavy cowhide belting. The bag measures 16" x 16", large enough to carry anything you might need.
